Abstract — Adsorption techniques and positron annihilation method showed that the actual distribution of adsorbed water molecules in micropores of a crystalline NaX zeolite is substantially heterogeneous. Under atmospheric conditions when the whole micropore volume is thought of as filled with water, the main part of water molecules is found to be involved in the solvation shells of sodium cations, so that a substantial part of micropore volume, about 30%, remains free.
