Growth of Anodic Oxide Layers under Electric Discharge Conditions

Abstract — Experimentally observed mechanisms of the formation of oxide structures on metals in electrolytes under electric discharge conditions are described. Processes of the formation of oxide layers generated by an ensemble of independent spark and arc discharges, the formation of films due to nucleation and radial growth of bulk nuclei of the new phase, and the formation of surface structures by propagating discharges are discussed.
