Abstract — The interaction of polyacrylic acid with water is reported. Water, which is consumed by polyacrylic acid in a wide range of humidities is found to exist in two states, i.e., statistically dissolved in the matrix (Flory-Huggins mode) and in cluster form. No retention due to the sorption on active sites according to Langmuir’s mode is detected.
