Received July 19, 2005 Abstract — The sensitivity of the protective effect of an inhibitor from a reaction series to the variation of the polarities of electrophilic substituents in its molecule depends on the nature and concentrations of salt additives. The correlations obtained for iron corrosion were interpreted in terms of the Linear Gibbs Energy Relation (LGER) and the Principle of Hard and Soft Acids and Bases (HSAB).
