Received April 11, 2005 Abstract — Anodic dissolution and passivation of iron–carbon alloys containing a pearlitic constituent are investigated. The role of the cementite phase in the passivation, as well as the possibility of the passive layer breakdown at the boundary between the ferritic and cementite phases, is shown.
